BIG EAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL KICKS OFF ON XM RADIO
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- BIG EAST football fans are gearing up for the start of the 2007 season, and XM Satellite Radio is getting ready to launch its second season of BIG EAST games for listeners across the U.S.
XM will kick off the season Aug. 30 as Rutgers hosts Buffalo at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, N.J. The Rutgers pre-game show airs nationwide on the BIG EAST channel (XM channel 203) at 6 pm ET, followed by the game at 7 pm ET.
Fans across the country can tune into BIG EAST games on XM radios for the car, home, office, and portable use. As the official satellite radio network of the BIG EAST Conference, XM airs select Big East football and basketball games live and nationwide.
“BIG EAST fans can hear games on an XM radio, whether they live on campus, or they live on the other side of the country,” said Eric Logan, executive vice president of programming for XM. “You can listen to games on XM when you’re on the road, at the office, sitting in the backyard, or walking on the beach.”
"We could not be happier about the partnership between XM Satellite Radio and the BIG EAST Conference," Commissioner Michael Tranghese said. "XM has provided the BIG EAST, its member schools and student-athletes a means to reach even more fans around the world, and that exposure has proven to be invaluable."
The BIG EAST channel is one of 170 satellite radio channels of sports, music, talk, news, and entertainment available on XM. XM is the nation’s leading satellite radio company with more than 8.2 million subscribers.
In addition to the BIG EAST, XM is also the official satellite radio network of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) Championship Game and other BCS games. XM will air more than 5,000 live sporting events in 2007.
“When you look at XM’s partnership with the BIG EAST,” said XM’s Logan, “coupled with the five other power conferences, plus the BCS, you can see how XM really has become the ultimate destination for college sports fans. XM is your connection to college sports, wherever you are.”
