Former Buff Stan Brock Named Head Coach At Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Army head football coach Bobby Ross retired Monday, and replacing him at the helm of the Black Knights is Stan Brock, the former University of Colorado offensive lineman who starred for 16 seasons in the National Football League.
Brock lettered at CU between 1976 and 1979 for coaches Bill Mallory and Chuck Fairbanks, and was selected in the first round (12th overall) by the New Orleans Saints in the 1980 NFL Draft. He would spend 13 years with the Saints (1980-92), and finished up with three seasons with the San Diego Chargers (1993-95). He played in 234 professional games, including 112 consecutive to end his career.
At Colorado, he earned first-team All-America honors from The Sporting News as a senior in 1979, when he was also a first-team All-Big 8 performer. He was CU's John Mack Award winner as the offensive MVP that senior season.
