2007 Duke Football Schedule Released

DURHAM, N.C. -- Five home games, eight consecutive contests versus bowl teams from a year ago and non-conference road trips to Navy, Northwestern and Notre Dame highlight Duke's 2007 football schedule released on Wednesday by the ACC Office.

The Blue Devils will kick off the season at home against Connecticut on September 1 and open league play one week later against Virginia in Charlottesville. After travelling to face Northwestern on September 15, Duke will begin a stretch of eight straight games against schools that played in bowl games last season, starting with away tilts at Navy (Sept. 22) and Miami (Sept. 29).

Duke will be at home the first two weeks of October as defending ACC champion Wake Forest (Oct. 6) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 13) travel to Durham. Following an open date, the Blue Devils head to Tallahassee to meet Florida State on October 27 prior to the final two home games of the year against Clemson (Nov. 3) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 10).

The 2007 regular season ledger rounds out with road games at Notre Dame (Nov. 17) and North Carolina (Nov. 24).

Duke's 12 opponents combined for an 87-67 (.565) overall record in 2006 with eight schools playing in bowl games: Connecticut (4-8), Virginia (5-7), Northwestern (4-8), Navy (9-4; 25-24 loss to Boston College in the Meineke Car Care Bowl), Miami (7-6; 21-20 win over Nevada in the MPC Computers Bowl), Wake Forest (11-3; 24-13 loss to Louisville in the Orange Bowl), Virginia Tech (10-3; 31-24 loss to Georgia in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl), Florida State (7-6; 44-27 win over UCLA in the Emerald Bowl), Clemson (8-5; 28-20 loss to Kentucky in the Music City Bowl), Georgia Tech (9-5; 38-35 loss to West Virginia in the Gator Bowl), Notre Dame (10-3; 41-14 loss to LSU in the Sugar Bowl) and North Carolina (3-9).
