MYRON ROLLE NAMED A FIRST TEAM FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN

Tallahassee, FL -- Florida State’s Myron Rolle was named a first team freshman All-American by The Sporting News Friday. The Sporting News’ ACC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year, Rolle is the first Seminole defender to be named a first team freshman All-American since Travis Johnson in 2001. The Seminole rover was one of four Florida State players to be named to the All-American freshman team. Defensive lineman Everette Brown was named to the second team, tight end Brandon Warren to the third team and cornerback Jamie Robinson was named an honorable mention freshman All-American.

Rolle has started 11 games for FSU since replacing injured starter Anthony Houllis. He finished the regular season third on the team in tackles to go along with a sack and five pass break-ups. Rolle is currently the only freshman in the ACC in the top 20 for tackles and no other first year player in the conference evens ranks in the top 30.

Brown Played in all 12 games and made three starts for FSU. He recorded 24 tackles, two sacks, two quarterback hurries and blocked a kick. The redshirt freshman was second on the team with 12 tackles for loss, which ranked him seventh in the ACC. He is one of only two freshmen in the ACC in the top 10 for TFL

Robinson played in 10 games and made four starts this season for the Seminoles. He is the fourth leading tackler among all FSU cornerbacks (22) and recorded three pass break-ups on the season and one tackle for loss.

Warren led all FSU tight ends in receptions this season while averaging 11.3 yards per catch. He caught 27 balls for 293 yards and a touchdown in his inaugural campaign which saw the true freshman make 10 starts.

The Seminoles begin practice today for their Emerald Bowl game versus UCLA in San Francisco. This is the first ever meeting between the Seminoles and Bruins. The game will be played December 27 at 8:00 p.m. EST at AT&T Park. For more information, log on to the official athletic website for Florida State Athletics at Seminoles.com.
