Patterson Leaves Louisville - Returns to Tulsa

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville assistant coach Keith Patterson has left the University of Louisville for family reasons and will return to the Tulsa coaching staff as co-defensive coordinator and linebacker coach.

Patterson has spent the last two months on the Louisville staff as the co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach.

"I'm sorry to see Keith leave the University of Louisville", said U of L head coach Steve Kragthorpe. "But I understand he's making the decision for family reasons, and highly respect that. Family will always be a priority in our football program."

Before leaving Kragthorpe to come to Louisville, Patterson spent the past four years on the Tulsa coaching staff. In his first three years at Tulsa, Patterson coached the linebackers when Graham was the Golden Hurricane defensive coordinator, and last year Patterson was Tulsašs defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

"My decision to return was based on a culmination of so many factors," said Patterson. " Being here for my family as my parents are getting older is important. My relationship with Todd goes back 20 years, and I know what type of program he will continue to build at Tulsa. We have an incredible staff with great coaches and great men. I helped recruit a lot of these players and being able to help them continue to grow as young men and players is exciting, said Patterson. "The way the city of Tulsa has embraced the Tulsa football program over the last four years is so rewarding to see as a native Oklahoman."
