M-CLUB OFFICERS NAMED; TOUGHEST DAY OVER FOR 'DOGS
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State student M-Club recently elected
its officers for the 2006-07 school year, club advisor Ray Berryhill
announced.
MSU softball player Hayle Guess will serve the organization as president,
while trainer Christina Compton will assist her as vice-president. Soccer
player Stephanie Dallas is the secretary, while baseball player Andy Wilson
is the treasurer. Ashleigh Korzack, a golfer, is in charge of public
relations, while football player Brooks Crabtree is the sergeant at arms.
On the practice field Sunday, head football coach Sylvester Croom sent his
troops through a two and one-half hour practice, conducted mostly under the
lights at the practice fields behind the Holliman Athletic Center. The
Bulldogs worked on virtually all aspects of the game, preparing for Thursday
night's home opener against South Carolina.
"It was the longest, hardest work day of the week of preparation," Croom
said. "We spent a lot of time on all phases of the game plan, including all
of the kicking. Practice time will be shorter and more mental the rest of
the way. We'll be out in shorts until game day."
Croom spoke highly of his team's preparation to this point, particularly
their mental readiness.
"Their (the players') attitude is the best it's been since we've been here,"
Croom said. "The guys are confident. They know the work they have put in
to get to this point."
