Opening Comments:
"This week we have another big game against another outstanding opponent - the No. 4 team in the country, the West Virginia Mountaineers. We have not played them historically and they are an outstanding football team. We've got them at home fortunately and it is a great opportunity for us to pick up after our last game. We have to step up because this is a very good football team. After watching the game film from last week, there were some things that I was pleased with - I thought our effort was good throughout the game, we kept battling at the end and the big positive for me was our offensive line continues to get better. The play of Arnil Stallworth is a bright sign and Tony Burks gives us a weapon up the field. The guys on defense who played well were Andrew Powell, Quinton Culberson and Jeramie Johnson. This is a team (West Virginia) that really takes advantage of turnovers and has excellent speed on both sides of the football. They have gone through a rebuilding process, I think three tears ago they were 1-4 at this same point. They beat some good football teams, including Virginia Tech and turned their season and program around. We have the same opportunity, but we have to stay together as a football team and have to correct the mistakes that we are making right now."
On playing a third top-10 team in five weeks-
what makes West Virginia different than Auburn,
LSU:
"The fact that we have played Auburn and LSU before and are a lot more familiar with them and we are a lot less familiar with this team (West Virginia) and some of the schemes that they run. It is going to pose a more difficult challenge, but at the same time, they have not played us before and some of the things that we do they are not as familiar with as well. They did have an open week, so that does help them to some degree."
On the play of Jamon Hughes and Kyle Love in
the LSU game:
"Those guys did well last week. They are young from an assignment and technique standpoint, but they were very productive in the game. He (Jamon Hughes) is an outstanding talent. Both of those guys have the talent to be outstanding football players."
On the play of Quinton Culberson:
"Quinton (Culberson) has been one of the guys that has gone from corner, safety, outside linebacker and now inside linebacker. I think he has done quite well at those positions. He is making a lot of plays for us. He has played extremely well and has a future at the next level."
On stopping West Virginia on the run without
Deljuan Robinson:
"It makes the task more difficult because Deljuan (Robinson) brings a lot of experience and a lot of discipline in knowing our schemes and knowing what is exactly supposed to take place. We are very fortunate that we were using a three-man rotation inside anyway. Even though we lost Deljuan (Robinson), we are still starting two very good football players in Antonio Johnson and Andrew Powell."
