Joe Newton Invited to Senior Bowl

Corvallis – Oregon State University senior tight end Joe Newton has been invited to the Under Armour Senior Bowl, scheduled for Noon PST Jan. 27 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.

The Roseburg native and a 2006 fall term OSU graduate with a degree in forest management, earned Pacific-10 Conference Honorable Mention selection this season. He currently ranks 13th at OSU for career receptions (99) and sixth for touchdowns receiving (13).

Newton missed 2005 with a leg injury and will conclude his career as a three-year letterman and the record holder for touchdowns receiving by a tight end. He also earned honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore and was named the ESPN Player of the Game at the Insight Bowl.

Oregon State (9-4) continues its longest season in school history Fri., Dec. 29 as it makes its first appearance in the 73rd annual Brut Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. The game can be viewed on CBS or audio in Oregon via the Beaver Sports Radio Network.
