Corvallis – Michael Cole of Foothill Junior College in California and Danzel Issac of Hillsborough Junior College in Florida have signed national letters of intent to play football at Oregon State University, Beaver head coach Mike Riley announced Thursday.

The 6-7, 290-pound Cole is an offensive lineman who helped the Owls capture the Northern California Junior College Conference title and the championship of the Silicon Valley Bowl earlier this month. Cole is a 2003 high school graduate of Lake Oswego and then attended Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia for one year, where he played football. He then transferred to Portland State, redshirting in 2004. JCGridiron.com ranks Cole as the ninth-best lineman in the nation. Cole, who also attended high school at Lakeridge, lettered a total of four times in football and three in basketball as a prep. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Issac is a 6-3 linebacker who did not play the 2006 season while attending Hillsborough. He did compete in 2005 for Eastern Arizona Junior College, earning first team all-region. Issac,, who originally signed with Oregon State last February, played as a prep at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Fla, earning honorable mention 5A All-State as a senior in 2003. He attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M. during the 2003-04 academic year. Issac is expected to join the program in April and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Cole and Isaac join defensive tackle Sioeli Nau of Snow College who have committed to Oregon State during the mid-year junior college transfer letter of intent period which began Wed., Dec. 20. Mid-year junior college transfers are eligible to sign letters of intent through Jan. 15. The regular letter of intent signing day for all Division I programs is Wed., Feb. 7.

OSU officials also announced Dec. 20 that Joe Halahuni of Orting High School in Graham, Wash., and Walker Vave from Laie, Hawaii have been admitted to OSU and will begin classes next month.
