ADAM GRAESSLE NAMED TO RAY GUY AWARD WATCH LIST
PITTSBURGH-University of Pittsburgh senior punter Adam Graessle has
been named to the 31-player Ray Guy Award Watch List released today by
the Greater Augusta Sports Council.
The Ray Guy Award is presented to the nation's best collegiate punter
as determined by a national selection committee made up of
sportswriters, college football coaches, sports information directors,
former punters and members designated by the Greater Augusta Sports
Council.
Graessle (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) is in his third season as
Pitt's starting punter. A past All-Big East honoree, he is a viable
All-America candidate in 2006 and currently ranks 14th nationally and
second in the Big East with a 43.2-yard average.
In the Panthers' 33-15 victory over Cincinnati last week, Graessle
placed three punts at or inside the Bearcats' 15-yard line. He averaged
43 yards on eight attempts overall and had a long punt of 55.
Graessle owns a career punting average of 42.8 yards and has the
ability to challenge the school career mark of 43.5 (held by Brian
Greenfield, 1989-90).
The Panthers (2-0) will host Big Ten foe Michigan State (2-0) this
Saturday at Heinz Field. Kickoff is set for noon. For ticket
information, log on to PittsburghPanthers.com
or call (800) 643-PITT.
