First Three Purdue Football Games Of 2006 To Kick At 1 p.m.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Joe Tiller is a traditionalist. As such, he thinks college football games should begin at the "traditional" time of 1 p.m. but knows television dictates a myriad of start times.

The 10th-year Purdue head coach, however, is seeing his wishes fulfilled for the Boilermakers' first three games of the 2006 season. Home contests against Indiana State on Sept. 2, Miami (Ohio) on Sept. 9 and Ball State on Sept. 16 all will kick off at 1 p.m. EDT.

There will be no live television for any of the games, but both the Miami and Ball State contests will be carried on the Internet on ESPN360.

ESPN360 is an always-on application that provides sports content directly to computers, including live sportscasts, on-demand video, interactive games, event coverage, news analysis and more. ESPN360 is free, as long as the Internet provider has partnered with ESPN. Presently, there is no subscription payment option for ESPN360. Fans that can't access ESPN360 are urged to contact their ISP.

Kick times now are known for the first six games. Minnesota on Sept. 23 will start at noon, Notre Dame in South Bend on Sept. 30 will start at 2:30 p.m. and Iowa in Iowa City on Oct. 7 will start at 11 a.m. CDT (noon in Lafayette-West Lafayette). Both Minnesota and Iowa will be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN Regional, while Notre Dame will be broadcast by NBC.

Non-televised Purdue home games previously were scheduled for noon starts but, with the adoption of daylight savings time, they now will go at 1 p.m.
