Rutgers Adds Dixon to 2007 Football Recruiting Class
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (March 31, 2007) - Rutgers head football coach Greg Schiano announced Saturday that Reggie Dixon (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Scarlet Knights beginning in the fall of 2007. Dixon, who is also a track standout, is one of the fastest timed players in the state.
“We are very pleased that Reggie decided that Rutgers is where he wants to play college football and go to school,” said Schiano. “It is a unique situation that he is able to graduate and we are happy to have him as a member of the team starting this summer.”
Dixon was an All-Union County offensive selection by the Star-Ledger last season. A versatile player who lined up at wide receiver and running back in high school, he averaged 27.7 yards per reception last season with three touchdowns, including a 90-yard TD reception. In five games on the defensive side of the ball, Dixon totaled two interceptions.
In 2005, Dixon scored 11 touchdowns at wide receiver, two at running back and four on kickoff and punt returns. He has been timed at 4.35 in the 40-yard dash along with track times of 6.37 in the 55m, 10.32 in the 100m and 20.4 in the 200m. His personal-best time of 6.37 in the 55m ranks second all-time in New Jersey high school history.
